laying out your pages

“But what do I put on this blank page?”

That’s the big question staring up at you each time you open your art journal. Right?

Looking at the blank page and not knowing where to begin can be daunting. A basic design template (or five) will give you a headstart!

In my art journals, I’ve developed five common templates that are tried and true and that I often fall back on when I don’t otherwise have a plan. Diving in isn’t scary because these design layouts have been tested and proven reliable.

As you delve further into keeping your commonplace book, you will likely develop some of your own most-used templates. In the meantime, I would love to share mine with you!
