Chucks 450
I decided not to make any resolutions for the new year.  I am not even setting any specific goals for the year.
Instead, I have decided on a saying that is going to be my motto for the year.  The idea is somewhat similar to Ali Edwards' One Little Word movement.  But, of course, instead of one little word, I have eight.  And, they are strung together into a phrase.

Do something today that will make tomorrow better.

That is the theme by which I plan to make 2013 a year for the memory books.

Using this theme as my inspiration for 2013 does not give me an "out" for not enjoying today.  I don't want to be so focused on tomorrow, that I don't appreciate the here and now.  In any case, my most productive days are often the ones that I enjoy the most.  I'm not talking about the "productive" kind of days where I run from place to place and try to check a hundred things off of my list, but the days when I get a lot of work done on a single project.  Those days always leave me with that nice, satisfied feeling that I have accomplished something good.

Do something today that will make tomorrow better.
My phrase is my reminder that I have a lot of big dreams that are not going to happen on their own. Work is necessary.

Big dreams like being a stay at home, homeschooling mom and adding a few more children to our family.
Without some concentrated effort, these things will not be financially feasible for our family.  My theme for the year is serving as my reminder to work towards my dreams every day.  I plan to put little reminders anywhere and everywhere I can think of to help myself make daily decisions that will improve my future.

This theme is pretty open-ended.  That is something that I appreciate because I really hope for it to evolve over the next twelve months.  I want to work ahead on little projects that will improve my day to day life and I also want to explore my dreams for the future and put some serious thought into where I want to be a few years from now.

On the other hand, I don't want to leave things so open-ended that I only work toward little goals that might not have a lasting impact on my future.  So, I am working on a to do list for the next six-weeks that should help me jump start 2013 and living out my theme.  I will share my list on Friday.
